What's in the school bag? 1885
The School Satchel
If this were yours, what would you carry to school?
A frog? A four-leaf clover? Or maybe a sandwich for lunch?
What would you pack?
No frogs 🐸 here... Keep Exploring.
There are places in Peckles-Wood Shire where the weather seems to have a mind of its own.
Foggy Hollow is one of them.
Most mornings, the path through the hollow is quiet. Tall trees crowd close to the trail, their branches twisting overhead. When the air is cold and damp, mist settles between the trunks and curls across the ground.
The children know the way well enough.
Or at least, they think they do.
In thick fog, familiar things can look different. A tree that usually stands beside the path may seem farther away. A stone wall can appear and disappear in the mist. Even the sound of running water seems to come from somewhere else.
That is why the Whitaker children keep close together when they pass through Foggy Hollow.
There is nothing frightening about the hollow.
Probably.
But when the fog rolls in, it pays to watch where you are going—and to keep an eye on the path ahead.
Look Closely
If you were walking through Foggy Hollow in 1885, what would you notice first?
The trees?
The mist?
The path beneath your boots?
Or something else hiding just beyond the trail?
Keep looking. The Shire has a way of rewarding careful explorers.
