The Brag, 1885

The image shares the different ways a brag can appear.
The many shapes of the Brag.

Long before the Whitaker children ever heard the stories, people across Northumberland whispered tales of a strange creature called the Brag. It appeared on lonely roads, in dark fields, and along quiet country paths. Some described it as a great black dog, while others swore the creature could change its shape.

Yet not every Brag was dangerous. Some stories told of tricksters who enjoyed scaring travelers, while others spoke of protectors who helped and guided people in need. Like many old country stories, the Brag was both frightening and fascinating.

In the world of Broken Sanctuary, these old stories are more than tales told around the fire. The Whitaker children soon discover that the line between story and reality may be thinner than they thought.

Perhaps that’s all you need to know for now. Keep your eyes open when you travel the old roads of Peckles-Wood Shire. You never know what might be waiting just beyond the next bend.
